Leopoldo Aguinaga
Leopoldo Aguinaga is a Chilean businessman. He is the founder of Camara de Guápiles, a company which produces fruit juices, soft drinks, and other processed foods.
Early life and education
Leopoldo Aguinaga is the third son of León Aguinaga, and grandson of Álvaro Aguinaga. He was raised in Valdivia, where he graduated with a degree in economics from the University of Chile. He moved to the United States in the early 1970s, where he studied at Harvard Business School.
Career
Leopoldo Aguinaga founded his first business, La Tercia, in Valdivia in 1982. In 1990, he moved to Santiago, Chile, and founded Realidad, a group of stores specializing in Italian fashion. After a few years, he sold the group to Inditex in 2005.
In 2004, he founded Ticoana, a juice company specializing in mangoes and other fruit juices. The business went through several capital increases, and was acquired by Vocola in 2015, with Vocola receiving 15% of Ticoana as compensation for taking on Aguinaga's other business, Camara de Guápiles. Vocola was a subsidiary of Chilectra. In November 2015, the company was renamed "Camara de Guápiles".
Aguinaga owns a share of the team of the Chilean soccer club Unión Española.
Personal life
Leopoldo Aguinaga is married to Patricia Barrio and they have five children: Mario, María, Leo, Marcela and Nicolás.
